I started my fitness journey about 5 years ago after several personal struggles. Headed for a career in teaching I decided to make my passion also my career.
I graduated from Heritage College, I have worked for Anytime Fitness and 50+ Fitness of which my husband and I now own.
My husband and my children are my inspiration. to stay healthy. What is your motivation?
I went to school at Heritage College in Wichita(its a trade school). While at Heritage I did my internship for a local gym here in Wichita called 50+ Fitness. After completing my internship I was hired on at Anytime Fitness out of Wichita,KS and Park City, KS. At Anytime Fitness I was a "jack of all trades" you could say. Training is my passion but I also did sales and office work etc. In 2011 I left Anytime Fitness and went back to work for 50+ Fitness. In June the owners decided to sell, which brings me to today. In August Lance and I bought 50+ Fitness. It is a gym specifically for the 50+, our motto is "fitness in the prime of your life" We have 2 other great people working for us and we have great, loyal members. We are located at 550 N. Webb Rd. We also run my personal training business out of that location Leslie Fitness LLC.
I am not here to make people look like super models(unless you want to look like a super model we can sure do that), my goal is to motivate and help you reach your fitness goals and join you on your fitness journey!
None of this would be possible without the love and support from wonderful husband, our 5 kids, and so many family and friends. I'm so very blessed by both my husbands family and my own. Hopefully this is just one way I can pay it forward!

Change
For a good part of the day I hear people say " Im not seeing results, my body is not changing the way I want it to..." Most people dont see changes due to their diet or lack of change from the exercise routine. First of all diet is key, I would say even more so than exercise although you need both! You can not continue eating fast food, foods high in sugar, etc and expect results. Many of you may have heard the saying "abs are made in the kitchen" I strongly agree. Take out the soda, fatty foods, sugar, sweets and replace with water, veggies, fruit etc and watch what happens. Second get off the treadmill and do something different! Try a lifting session, try some different cardio equipment. Not sure where to start? Ask people at your local gym that is what they are there for. Hire a trainer, it is their job to help mix things up, push you and motivate you. The internet and book stores are filled with books and magazines to help you get started. Challenge your body, push yourself a little more and you will start to see changes. Remember change does not happen over time. Be patient, believe in yourself and never be afraid to ask for help!

are you getting enough sleep?
Ran across an article about the correlation between sleep and weight loss. Research has shown that if you are not getting enough sleep each night it will interfere with your weight loss. University of Chicago study said, "failure to get 8.5 hours of sleep per night resulted in weight gain and difficulty maintaining a healthy weight due to hormonal changes that lead to an increased craving for carb rich foods."
They reported those with sufficient amount of sleep were the least hungry. For myself when I am tired and needing sleep I crave foods that are bad for me. Think about all the times you have gone out with friends coming home at 1 or 2 in the morning, you are usually hungry and usually hungry for junk. For me it was always french fries.
So try to maintain a sleep schedule, if you cant get 8.5 in try for 7 hours of sleep. When you stay consistent your body will become more efficient. Have a great Saturday!

Good Morning!
Morning friends! So about a month ago I made a new goal for myself, a goal that is attainable with the right exercise program and diet. Thats the thing that sometimes people forget or dont realize, both exercise and diet are key! You must have the proper balance of both. Starving yourself and having intense workouts is NOT the way to accomplish your goals. Neither is eating whatever you want and having an intense workout. Today try replacing a coookie with eating some fruit. It sometimes takes small steps, you dont make the change overnight! The internet is full of fun, healthy recipes you and your family will enjoy! Email me for any of your nutrition or exercise questions. Have a great day everyone!

Fitness
No better time than the present to start your fitness program. Staying healthy, eating right and working out does not mean that you have to have a goal of looking like a model or the next beauty queen. Its about taking care of yourself so that you can be the best that you can be. Take just 30 minutes from your day. Most of us waste that watching television, facebooking, doing pinterest(my new favorite thing). Im guilty of too! So next time you get ready to do something that is not productive throw on some tennis shoes, bundle up and go on a walk. Focusing on your health and working out is not limited to a gym!
